The South London Branch of the British Horological Institute will be holding an open day on Saturday 14th April 2018.
Branch Vice President Ron Rose said “the purpose of the day is to promote awareness of horology and the activities of the British Horological Institute in today’s world and show that there are still opportunities to develop a rewarding career in horology.”
The last Open Day was held in 2016 and was attended by several hundred members of the public with many spending several hours at the show participating in the activities. This years show is expanded to include three halls and includes representatives from organisations offering training and careers in horology.
The day will showcase:
Clocks and models built by BHI members.
Clock Case woodworking.
Interactive demonstrations with something to take away -cleaning, polishing, silvering, drilling, reaming
Working on the watchmakers lathe – balance staff turning.
Clockwork wheel cutting.
Association of Musical Box Collectors.
Turret Clocks – Cumbria Clock Co
Antiquarian Horological Society
Local Evening Classes
BHI short courses.
Epping Forest Horology Centre
West Dean College – conservation of clocks.
British School of Watchmaking.
